About This Journal
The Journal of Emerging Scholars in Occupational Therapy (JESOT) was founded in 2025 by Marnie Renda, OTD, OTR/L, ECHM and Leah Dunn, EdD, OTR/L as an open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to emerging leaders and innovative practice areas in occupational therapy. JESOT accepts a wide range of articles, including systematic/scoping reviews, original research, case studies/reports, program evaluation and, and capstone projects. JESOT aims to serve as a platform for students and novice researchers to disseminate their research or evidence-based projects, adding to the occupational therapy body of knowledge. The journal is managed by the faculty of Xavier University's Occupational Therapy Department and welcomes manuscripts within the scope of occupational therapy.
The Journal of Emerging Scholars in Occupational Therapy aims to provide a platform to showcase the work of emerging researchers, early-career professionals, and students, fostering innovation, critical thinking, and collaboration in the field. We support the growth of emerging voices to advance evidence-based practice and promote occupational justice.
Publication history for this journal will become available soon.
Editorial Priorities
JESOT seeks submissions that are:
- Grounded in evidence or critical reflection
- Relevant to current or emerging issues in OT
- Accessible to a broad audience, including students and practitioners
- Original, clear, and well-organized
We especially encourage work that challenges assumptions, explores underrepresented topics, or connects theory to practice.
