Abstract
This research article studies Bert Cartwright and the story behind his influential article, "The Mysterious Norman Raeben." The piece draws attention to Cartwright's underappreciated work as a civil rights advocate. It also shares new revelations from Cartwright's research files held in the Cartwright Collection at Bowling Green State University.
