Biographical Information

Thirty-first Jesuit president Rev. Charles L. Currie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1930. He received his BA and MA from Boston College, Boston, Massachusetts and his PhD in physical chemistry from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. He also attended Woodstock College, Woodstock, Maryland and did postdoctoral research at Cambridge University, England. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1950. Before Xavier he served as president of Wheeling College, Wheeling, West Virginia and after Xavier he served as president of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) from 1997-2011.
