Abstract

Suffering surrounds us, leading to questions about a good and gracious God. This article emphasizes a less-well-known perspective on the life, suffering, and death of Jesus that grounds a threefold response to suffering of lament, action, and trust. God does not desire suffering but works to overcome it. Christians are an Easter people, trusting that good overcomes evil, that life overcomes death.
