Artist's Description: This pair of mixed media work is one in the series A Journey and a Process, depicting the external and internal effects of various mental illnesses and the recovery process. The choice of blending various materials together symbolizes my career path of art therapy. While the sciences and art are often compartmentalized, these pieced demonstrate that what might be deemed as opposites actually complement each other. Specifically, the portrait photography adds realism to the work, as mental illness affects a wide spread of people.
