Abstract

This article offers an overview of the poetry of Paul Bray, collected in his book Terrible Woods: Poems 1965-2008. It focuses particularly on Bray's relation to Gnostic thought and belief; it also provides commentary on the formal qualities of the poems. Almost entirely unknown during his lifetime, Bray is still rarely read or mentioned; this article argues for increased attention to his work.
