Xavier University Commencement is an annual ceremony that publicly recognizes candidates for graduation and confers degrees upon them. The commencement programs in this collection range from 1920 to the present. Programs for commencements prior to 1920 were often published in the University's Catalogs. The contents of the commencement programs vary by year, but often include information such as the names of graduates, lists of members of the stage party, and the order of ceremonies.
Commencement programs cannot be considered proof of graduation. The names and honors of graduates listed are for purposes of the commencement program and do not represent a final certification of graduation. The December 17, 2000 commencement was the first December ceremony and the first commencement ceremony in the Cintas Center. It was also the last commencement presided over by University President James Hoff, SJ.
