Funeral prayer card for William Poland, 1848-1923. The front of the card contains a photograph of Father Poland. The back of the card contains biographical information, a quote from the bible, and a prayer for the repose of his soul. The card was made by an unknown publisher. He was professor of humanities, librarian, and founder of the Poland Scholarship Fund at Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio).

"From henceforth now, saith the Spirit, that they rest from their labors: for their works follow them." -Ap. 14,13. Prayer. O God, by whose favor Thy servant William was raised to the dignity of the Priesthood and thus honored with the Apostolic functions, grant, we beseech Thee, that he may be admitted to the eternal fellowship of Thy Apostles in heaven, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen. (From the Office of the Dead)
