Abstract
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of telehealth in helping professions has increased, leaving the question of how different delivery methods impact the therapeutic relationship between clients and practitioners. The therapeutic alliance is referred to as the quality of the relationship between the provider and the client (American Psychological Association, 2018) and is a major component of client engagement and satisfaction. This study will explore how clients receiving in-person treatment in Pressley Ridge’s Family Centered Treatment (FCT) program describe their perceived therapeutic alliance with their practitioners. Data will be collected from seven caregivers currently participating in FCT services at Pressley Ridge. Participants will complete the Working Alliance Inventory - Short Revised version (WAI-SR) that is modified slightly to fit the program during routine session times. This survey assesses key components of the therapeutic relationship, including respect, collaboration on tasks, and the overall bond between client and practitioner. Analyzing this data will help identify patterns in caregiver perceptions of the therapeutic relationship and provide insight into the therapeutic alliance in in-person services. Results from this study will be shared.
