Abstract

In the past, when high school students failed a course, they would physically sit in on the course again to pass. In recent years, online versions of these classes, called online credit recovery courses, have become an appealing alternative. This article seeks to gain a better understanding of the types of students taking online credit recovery courses, specifically at Oyler School in Lower Price Hill. Demographic data was taken on the 28 high school students in online credit recovery courses at Oyler in the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year. Data was collected on race, sex, ethnicity, number of unexcused absence hours, grade level, and the number of online courses students were enrolled in. This data was compared to demographic data of the 136 high school students at Oyler.
