Description
Handwritten vow to "Holy Mary, ever Virgin Mother of God" pledging to "procure two golden crowns, one for thee and one for thy Divine Infant" as a "perpetual memorial of thy Mercy and of our Gratitude" should they be protected from the "danger to which we are exposed during the prevalence of the dreadful sickness with which it has pleased Almighty god to afflict the earth" and should "none of us fall victim to the Cholera at this season." The individual professing the vow on behalf of himself and his fellow students of St. Xavier College is Cheri Nogues. The vow is dated as the Feast Day of Saints Peter and Paul, 1849, which is celebrated on June 29.
