Abstract
The energy crisis, accelerated by our growing population and the dwindling amounts of our natural resources, has prompted our search for renewable and more efficient sources. I have been studying nuclear energy and specifically how Cold-War era Congress responded to nuclear disasters and how these events influenced public policy. I explored GDP, amount of budget allocated to nuclear energy, and amount of bills passed. Through this exploration I expect to provide clarity to how these nuclear disasters affected the history of nuclear energy, shedding light on what is to come.
