Abstract
Access to affordable healthcare is essential in the United States. Government-funded programs like Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare) were introduced to assist low-income individuals who do not receive insurance through employers or private providers, which is how most Americans are typically insured. This study examines healthcare affordability across the U.S., how individuals manage healthcare costs in the current economy, and how affordability has changed over time. By analyzing data on the expansion of Medicaid and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the research finds that both programs have played a significant role in improving access to affordable healthcare for many Americans.
