Empirical Evidence Regarding Gender Unemployment Gap Persistence Across Countries
Abstract
We extend the empirical evidence regarding the persistence in the gender unemployment to a group of twenty-three OECDcountries based on the ratio of the female unemployment rate to the male unemployment rate. We find that the genderunemployment gap should be characterized as mean stationary or a trend stationary process in eleven countries, in the other twelve countries, the extent of persistence is relatively low as indicated by the corresponding half-life measure.
